Lyrics:
Kanye West - I Wonder
Find your dreams come true
And I wonder if you know
What it means, what it means
[chorus]
And I wonder if you know
What it means, what it means
And I wonder if you know
What it means to find your dreams
I've been waiting on this my whole life
These dreams be waking me up at night
You say I think I'm never wrong
You know what, maybe you're right, aight
[chorus]
You say he get on your fucking nerves
You hope that he get what he deserves, word
Do you even remember what the issue is
You just trying to find where the tissue is
You can still be who you wish you is
It ain't happen yet
And that's what the intuition is
When you hop back in the car
Drive back to the crib
Run back to their arms
The smokescreens
The chokes and the screams
You ever wonder what it all really mean
[chorus]
And I'm back on my grind
A psychic read my lifeline
Told me in my lifetime
My name would help light up the Chicago skyline
And that's what I'm
Seven o'clock, that's primetime
Heaven'll watch, God calling from the hot lines
Why he keep giving me hot lines
I'm a star, how could I not shine
How many ladies in the house
How many ladies in the house without a spouse
Something in your blouse got me feeling so aroused
What you about
On that independent shit
Trade it all for a husband and some kids
You ever wonder what it all really mean
You ever wonder if you'll find your dreams

in grade 8, i was on the cross country running team. practices were during lunch time. we would run 3 laps around the whole school yard, which was about 3-4 km i think.. my friends and i on the team would hang at the back of the pack and make a run for it at the end.. this was how we practiced.. our thinking was that we shouldn't waste energy at the beginning.. save it all for last.. we made fun of all the ppl at the front, especially this guy named summit.. token guy that got made fun of by everyone.. we planned to blow right by him near the end...
the thing is... we never blew by him.. he finished ahead of us.. every single lunch.. this boggled my mind.. i knew i could beat this guy, but dunno why i wasnt.. why couldnt i hang back effortlessly and chat with my friends while trying to impress the girls watching??
then one lunch i decided to try and run closer to the front, establishing the pace... what a difference it made... i was ahead of most ppl the whole time and still was able to finish strongly... my friends who hung out at the back still finished at the back... other than my friend who's really good, haha... we tied...
i finished ahead of summit, who ran his usual pace.. he finished ahead of my friends...
when i relied on my talent alone, i was unable to accomplish anything cause my effort was non-existent... when i combined my talent and effort, i was able to accomplish a lot more.. it didnt mean i was the best... but it meant i was able to do my best and gauge where i was relative to others... so that i could set a goal and work on my skills
i look around now and i see tons of ppl who only rely on their talent.. they do nothing to develop their talent.. they're too easily satisfied...
on saturdays, i play volleyball in toronto and i see a few ppl who can really jump.. but all they want to do is jump really high to hit.. they dont care as much for the other parts of their game... they could be very good volleyball players if they wish... they definitely have more talent than i do..
some ppl are happy with that though.. they are happy with where they are.. but others want to be better... but if they sit back and relax, they will find others blowing by them in no time..
i have found that effort goes further than talent alone...
